Both of our international ports on the itinerary are in the Bahamas. The US Dollar is widely accepted throughout the Bahamas. You may purchase Bahamian Dollar in advance if you prefer.

We recommend bringing multiple forms of payment with you. Credit cards are widely accepted abroad and will give you the best exchange rate. We highly recommend using a credit card with no foreign transaction fees - or else you may be charged a fee for processing payments made in foreign currency to your card. It is best practice to let your credit card company know that you will be travelling internationally so there is no risk of your card company flagging your purchases as potential fraud.

You can also decide to carry local currency. We recommend getting local currency at an ATM as it is the most cost-effect exchange rate than going to a currency exchange.

Packing

WHAT WILL THE WEATHER BE LIKE IN THE BAHAMAS? WHAT SHOULD I PACK?

Since the weather in the Bahamas is warm and sunny year-round, it’s essential to pack light, breathable clothing to stay cool during the day. However, the ocean breeze and air-conditioned areas on the ship can bring a slight chill in the evenings, so a light layer is a smart addition.

During the day, temperatures typically range from the mid-70s to the mid-80s Fahrenheit, making swimsuits, cover-ups, and casual summer outfits ideal. Pack plenty of sunscreen, a wide-brimmed hat, and sunglasses to protect yourself from the tropical sun. For beach days at Great Stirrup Cay, bring water shoes for rocky areas and a reusable water bottle to stay hydrated.

In Nassau, lightweight, comfortable clothing is perfect for exploring the city or relaxing on the beach. If you plan to visit upscale restaurants or the casino on board, include a few dressier outfits for the evenings—think sundresses, dress shirts, and slacks. A light cardigan or jacket will keep you comfortable during cooler nights.

During the day on the ship while cruising, don’t forget a swimsuit, sunglasses and workout attire.

For ship dining, pack smart casual and evening chic attire.

In the event your checked luggage becomes inaccessible during the trip, please pack your valuables and things you will need within the next 24 hours in your carry-on luggage. These include (but are not limited to) your passport/government issued ID, credit cards/cash, laptop, cell phone, jewelry, glasses, contact lenses and solution (note size limits), and medication and a change of clothing.

Articles NOT Permitted in Your Carry-On Bag.

  • Sharp Objects
  • Firearms and arms in general
  • Liquids in a bottle more than 4 ounces
  • Household cleaning products

Articles NOT Permitted Under Any Circumstance including your checked baggage:

  • Explosives: Detonators, mines, grenades, plastic explosives, fireworks and all classes of powder
  • Flammable liquids: Gasoline, methanol, kerosene, spray paint, liquid alcohol and adhesives
  • Corrosives: Batteries of whatever type, including car batteries
  • Aerosols: Oxygen cylinders, poisonous gases and other compressed gas containers
  • Flammable items and chemicals: Magnesium, lighters, flares and matches

Planning and packing properly can facilitate the screening process and ease your travel experience at the airport. Even if an item is generally permitted, it may be subject to additional screening or not allowed through the checkpoint if it triggers an alarm during the screening process, appears to have been tampered with, or poses other security concerns. Know what you can pack in your carry-on and checked baggage, and review accepted and unaccepted items here.
